The Pre-Readers Summer Reading Program runs through Wednesday, August 12th.
The Pre-Readers game is designed for children ages 0 to 5, or those who aren’t reading on their own yet, to encourage life-long reading habits. Read together for 15 minutes per circle on the game board over the course of the summer to earn prizes! There are three different prize levels.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Register Online Here.
- Pre-Readers can download a game board starting June 1st. If you are unable to print your own board, contact the library to have one mailed to you.
- Track Reading – For every 15 minutes you and your child read together, color in a circle.
- Earn different prizes as you read together. When your child has filled in all the spaces in each prize area, contact the library to claim your prizes!
Thank you to our generous sponsors for making the Summer Reading Program possible: Friends of the Livermore Library; Foster's Freeze; LARPD; Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Pizza and Quest Science Center.
Research has shown that reading to your child every day for as little as fifteen minutes has a huge impact on their early brain development! Reading together develops vocabulary and comprehension, nurtures a love for reading, and motivates children to want to learn to read. (American Library Association - Every Child Ready to Read)
